Here’s my story
I’ve been dreaming about starting this blog for almost a decade—so hopefully this is inspiration if there’s something you too have long wished for! In 2010, I left CNN and a ten-year TV career for a more family-friendly corporate job in my hubbie-to-be’s home state of Minnesota. People often asked me if I missed being on TV, but what I missed most was helping people have more fun, be more informed, or feel more beautiful/inspired/empowered through stories. Even when I was interviewing the Bonos, Brangelinas and Bransons of this world, that was always my main motivation.
So I figured I would just write those stories on the side. Ha! Once I was married with two kids, spare time evaporated. But something else happened too. I started to learn how to put the research skills and style advice I’d learned as a journalist into a mum’s tiny windows of time. I could update the living room one wee step (pillows one night, curtains the next) at a time. I could Kon Mari my closet or update my wardrobe in small but strategic slices. And if I could do that, surely I could make time to write a blog so others could join in too. And here it is! I hope you enjoy it.
